New Jersey Fencing Alliance: Maplewood, NJ Y8-Y14 all weapons (Y14 gender-separate unless less than 6 fencers)- (see "more info" for age guidelines)- best youth competition on the East Coast! Great tournament experience whether you're pursuing Cup points or not. Ratings awarded if criteria met. This is the 6th event in the 2008-09 NJFA Youth Cup Series. This is a great opportunity for young fencers to gain valuable tournament experience, whether pursuing Cup prizes or not. This event is sanctioned by the NJ Division of the USFA and ratings can be awarded, however youth events do not use the E1 or D1 classifications. This means that these events are “NR†until they achieve a C1 level or higher.Cup Info All NJFA youth events held from September 2008 through June 2009 are eligible for Youth Cup prizes. Points will be awarded for first 5 places in each event. Points will be cumulative and prizes will be awarded to the top 3 point finishers in each event at the last tournament of the series. The highest female fencer in each category (if not in top 3) will receive an award. Medals will be awarded at each event. Events are scheduled this season Sep 27, Oct 12, Nov 8, Jan 11, Feb 15, Apr 19, May 24, June 13. Double points will be awarded Sep 27 and June 13. ENTRY Fencers must meet USFA birth year requirements. 2008-09 USFA Birth Year Eligibility: Y8 = 1999-2002 (non-USFA category) Y10 = 1998-2001 Y12 = 1996-1999 Y14 = 1994-1997 A fencer may compete in the next higher age bracket if on the current National Points List, i.e. a fencer on the current Y12 points list may fence Y14. If your entry is rejected for age, contact us and we will handle your entry. You must have valid USFA membership (except Y8 events) and you MUST show your USFA card or have proof that payment has been made. You may join at the door, however please arrive with a completed form or plan to come early to complete the necessary paperwork. Parent signature required. Please have separate checks made out to USFA or use your credit card for USFA payment. All fencers must wear required fencing attire and bring at least 2 working weapons and 2 working body cords. NOTE: If you are fencing in a Y8/10 event - you must have a #2 or #0 blade... FEESOn-line:$10 registration fee (nonrefundable) plus $20 per event if preregistered and payment through FRED. At-door: $10 registration fee plus $25 per event if preregistered with payment at the door Walk-in: $10 registration fee plus $30 per event if walk-in without preregistration. Payments made at the door must be in cash or check only. CREDIT CARDS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Refund requests (event fee only) must be received at least 2 days prior to the event. One round of pools with 100% promotion to Direct Elimination rounds. Fence-off for third place. The Y8 event format will be announced at close of check-in for the event and will depend on number of fencers (either one or two rounds or pools, or pools to DE). Medals awarded to 3rd place. Fencers are responsible for ensuring accuracy of all posted information and must report errors to the bout committee immediately.
